Native Iris
"Patersonia Iridaceae"

There are 20 kinds of native Iris found throughout Australia, except in the Northern Territory. They grow 20 - 45cm high, have tough strap-shaped iris like leaves and spread by rhizomes into large clumps. Fragile flowers of pale blue to purple have a large petal-like calyx, with three small inner petals. A number of flowers arise from one head over time.
